The Regnum Christi movement has been growing in Detroit for over 50 years, fulfilling its mission to form and launch apostles.
1970s
With the opening of the Legionaries of Christ community in 1974, the local laity started men's and women's teams.
1980s
St. Thomas More Academy opened in Burton, MI and today offers Prek-12 Catholic education to 100 students. It's presently celebrating its XXXV Anniversary.
Planning work got underway for the foundations of Everest Academy.
1990s
Everest Academy opened in 1991 with approximately 25 students in kindergarten and early elementary grades. Today the school is thriving and serves over 470 students.
2000s
Under the auspices of the Consecrated Women, the Queen of the Family Retreat Center began operations in Oxford, Michigan. The Center launched many apostolic initiatives, such as a K4J, the Girls International Program, Challenge and Conquest, Couples Groups and Marriage Renewal programs.
In 2003, Hispanic Outreach and Faith Formation Programs were started in Farmington and Novi, MI for Spanish Certified Catechists.'
These two decades were a period of institutional maturity across the board and membership growth.
2020s-Today
As a positive outgrowth of the pandemic, more programs are being offered virtually and online as well.
Our present efforts are focused in fortifying marriage and family, educating youth, forming lay leadership while supporting the wider church. RC Mission Impact 2024
Healing Ministries, Family Missions, Medical Missions, and the chaplaincy of the Catholic Medical Association have been added, and are consistently growing thanks to the commitment of the laity.
